We are so honoured to have been one of three artists to have made the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council's short-list for the CBC Emerging Artist Award. This award "recognizes new and undisputed talent. It is awarded to an emerging artist, group or arts organization that has earned significant recognition for a piece of work or a generally out-sized impact on the scene". To be in a category with the such incredibly talented visual artists Audrey Hurd and Ally Baird is an honour in itself. The NLAC awards will be held on July 10th.
On another note, keep an eye on this space for an exciting announcement next week!

Today is an exciting day! It is the first time Newfoundland and Labrador traditional fiddle has been featured in the international Fiddler Magazine! Thank you to Lois R. Shea for writing the lovely article. The article features Emilia Bartellas and talks a bit about the fiddling tradition in Newfoundland. It also features printed music for a set of singles that are featured on our album 'Aaron Collis and Emilia Bartellas'.
Fiddler magazine is a great magazine and a wonderful resource, with articles and tunes featuring fiddler players around the world!
If you interested in learning more tunes from Newfoundland and Labrador, all of the transcriptions of the tunes from our album are available for free here!
We're looking forward to some exciting opportunities in 2015!
We are so pleased to be joining The Once for their annual Christmas show at Gower Street United Church again this year. The MUN Chamber Choir will also be singing - it's going to be a beautiful time for sure!
We are completely humbled to be the recipient of MusicNL's Steele Communications Celtic/Traditional Recording of the Year. This album is dedicated to all of the players that have passed along their love and enthusiasm for the tunes. Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners - check them out here!
